The Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center is home to the magnificent Hjemkomst Viking Ship and the Hopperstad Stave Church, which is a replica of a 12th-century church in Norway. It also hosts an annual Midwest Viking Festival as well as quarterly museum exhibits.
Moorhead is home to two institutions of higher education and a community college – Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia College and Minnesota State Community and Technical College. MSUM is known for its strong Nursing program, elementary education and business administration, and management. Concordia is a private Christian college focused on global affairs whose most popular majors are business, education, and communication.
Bluestem Center for the Arts is a gorgeous venue that features both an indoor educational center and an outdoor 3,000 seat amphitheater where local and national musical acts and performances play. The Center also houses the Trollwood Performing Arts School. Surrounded by lush meadows, woods, and wildlife, the Center is also next to the Red River offering amazing views.
